How Is Male Breast Reduction Performed?

Depending on the extent of your surgery, Dr. Sisco may place you under general anesthesia or simply use a local anesthetic with sedation. In some cases, he may use only liposuction to create the desired result. More advanced cases may require excision of the mammary gland. In either case, Dr. Sisco uses small incisions, which heal with discreet scars.

Recovery After Male Breast Reduction

After your outpatient surgery is complete, you can return home to rest. Most male breast reduction patients take less than a week to recuperate at home before returning to work and light activity. You’ll need to wear a bandage, but it is well concealed beneath your clothes. Adhering to a good diet and consistent exercise is the best way to make the results of your male breast reduction permanent.

I was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma in my mandubrium in Jan. 2017. My thoracic surgeon referred me to Dr. Sisco for the reconstructive part of my 12 hour surgery. From my first consult to follow up, Dr. Sisco and his staff have been the most professional, compassionate and dedicated individuals I've had the pleasure of working with when it comes to healthcare. I've worked in healthcare, and I know it can be a thankless job and it can wear you down. Dr. Sisco and his staff were always positive, pleasant and so upbeat about my recovery. I spent 8 days in the hospital, and I can say at least twice a day, either Dr. Sisco or one of his staff would stop in my room to check in on me and my progress. Anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer or has fought the battle alongside a loved one, knows how devastating it is to hear that diagnosis for the first time. And then to have to go through consultation after consultation with a team of doctors is overwhelming, especially when you feel like you can't catch your breath. Dr. Sisco and staff made my diagnosis less scary. He explained step by step what he was going to do. He did not rush through the explanation. He gave me time to digest what was said and answered every question with patience and compassion. I also appreciate that Dr. Sisco has allowed me to decide when I would like to follow up with after care. I will need some minor surgery to fine tune the area in which bone, tissue and skin were replaced on my chest. He understood that I was not up for any surgery so soon after major surgery. I appreciate that I was not pressured to schedule that right away, and that I was given the choice of the timetable in which to return; when I felt comfortable. Dr. Sisco is talented and a credit to his profession. He is personable...has an amazing bed-side manner. Dr. Sisco is professional, courteous and most important : HE IS AN ARTIST! Almost 1 year ago, I had a double mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction.
